The Bride in the Wilderness is a concept album based on the Book of Job. It follows one man's spiritual and emotional journey through an inverted story arc beginning with tragic loss and wrestling with some of life's biggest questions: Why is the world riddled with affliction? If there is hope, then where can redemption be found? If there is a God and he is loving, then why is there suffering?

When I began writing this album, it was from an external perspective; much like Shakespeare's view of Romeo and Juliet. I was the author looking in from the outside. I set out to do a re-telling of this ancient book through my own creative lens. What I discovered through the process was something completely different. I began to see myself less as an outsider and more as one who was right in the midst of Job's story. I quickly learned that I could no longer get away with just writing about this; I had to be about it. I needed to experience my own version of utter darkness and depression before I could see the light in redemption. These songs would not have meant as much if I remained the puppet master tugging the strings. There was a very difficult, but necessary growth that happened during the course of the songwriting and recording process. I needed to be brought to the deepest low in order to fully grasp the thesis of this concept album: that only empty hands can be filled, and you can't be healed until you've bled.
